The award-winning French composer, songwriter and conductor Michel Colombier (1939-2004) is perhaps best known for his film music for a wide variety of films. He has also written chamber music, ballets, music for television and popular works for various instruments. Michel Colombier wrote the beautiful piece of music, Emmanuel, in memory of his son who died only five years old. Colombier's own recording «Wings» (1971) feature a oboe as solo instrument. After that, several great instrumentalists has recorded the piece. Most notable are those by Branford Marsalis (Soprano sax) and Chris Botti (Trumpet).
